Position Summary
The Medical Office Receptionist / Medical Assistant II is a crucial member of the healthcare team, responsible for delivering exceptional administrative and clinical support in a medical office setting. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing compassionate patient care. The ideal candidate will efficiently manage front desk operations, assist with basic medical procedures, and maintain a welcoming, professional environment for patients and staff.
Key Responsibilities
· Reception and Front Desk Duties:
· Greet patients and visitors warmly upon arrival and direct them appropriately.
· Answer incoming calls, schedule appointments, and manage the office calendar.
· Verify patient insurance information and process necessary paperwork.
· Maintain confidentiality and safeguard patient records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
· Collect co-pays and handle billing inquiries.
Clinical Assistance:
Take vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, etc.) and record patient information accurately.
Prepare examination rooms by ensuring cleanliness and stocking necessary supplies.
Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and minor procedures.
Administer medications and injections as directed by providers (if certified and permitted).
Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for testing.
Patient Support and Communication:
Provide patients with instructions regarding medications, procedures, and follow-up care.
Respond to patient inquiries in person, by phone, or via electronic communication in a courteous and professional manner.
Facilitate communication between patients, providers, and other staff members.
Office Administration:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
Order and manage inventory of medical and office supplies.
Support other office projects and tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or completion of a medical assistant program preferred.
· Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) is desirable.
· Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
· Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills (REQUIRED)
· Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient confidentiality (REQUIRED)
· Bilingual skills are a plus.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
· Work is performed in a standard medical office environment.
· Occasional exposure to bodily fluids and infectious materials; appropriate safety measures must be followed.
