divh2Transportation Manager 1/h2pThe primary purpose of the Fleet Manager is to provide guidance and leadership to the drivers, ensuring that customer needs are met and exceeded. The Fleet Manager is also accountable for their groups compliance with Company and DOT regulations. Overall, the Manager must ensure the safety of both drivers and those that share the public roads with them./ph3Duties and Responsibilities/h3pEssential Functions:/polliManage daily route operations as follows:/liulliLead the recruitment of qualified drivers. Lead with strength to develop or remove a driver based on their qualifications and performance./liliEnsure that adequate staffing exists through effective scheduling. Maintain a weekly driver schedule ensuring that all routes are covered by trained drivers./liliEnsure that all drivers are adequately trained on recordkeeping procedures by individual training./liliEnsure that all recordkeeping and documentation are complete at days end and turned in to corporate as necessary./liliHold routine team meetings./li/ulliResponsible for basic vehicle maintenance to ensure compliance with DOT regulations:/liulliEnsure that trucks receive routine maintenance./liliEnsure that trucks are kept in an acceptable, respectable fashion./liliMake sure weekly truck inspections are conducted and turned into Corporate manager./liliCommunicate any other necessary DOT information to Safety Coordinator in an expeditious manner./li/ulliOnce a year do a ride along with each driver to evaluate the efficiency of the Route as well as the drivers abilities, then share your report with Your G.M. to correct any deficiencies in the route or special training for the driver./li/olol start=4liWork with Sales/Service Reps to handle routine customer requests or issues, or communicate with appropriate individual to ensure that customer requests are consistently met in a timely manner:/liulliWork directly with drivers on basic customer service issues such as additional products, etc./liliMaintain appropriate records on each customer issue for historical purposes./li/ulliEnsure that Route Drivers are adequately trained:/liulliRoutinely train and acquaint all drivers with Crown customer service expectations and their decision-making accountability related to that service./liliEnsure that all drivers are well versed on record keeping requirements by coordinating training./liliEnsure that all drivers are familiar with the work flow in the plant so that they can confidently converse with customers./liliManage training and compliance on Hours of Service (if applicable)./liliServe as a role model for drivers regarding service mentality and technical competence./li/ulliMaintain familiarity with all routes and fill in as needed at any time. Maintain a Class A CDL for duration of employment./liliBe prepared for 24/7 on call to resolve issues./liliResponsible for communicating and monitoring driver safety issues:/liulliWork collaboratively with Safety Coordinator to plan safety meetings and communications for drivers./liliConduct and document quarterly driver safety meetings and annual driver retaining./li/ulliHandle administrative duties as needed:/liulliComplete and send bi-weekly report to Corporate Manager./liliEnsure that new accounts are set up properly by the office staff./liliWork with office staff to ensure that route accounting is handled efficiently and accurately./li/ul/olh3Other Functions and Responsibilities/h3p1. Any other duties as assigned or deemed necessary./ph3Qualifications/h3pThe ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without an accommodation./pulliAt least 3 years experience in a customer service related function/liliPrevious leadership experience/liliExcellent organizational skills/liliHas succeeded at a job that required attention to detail/liliExceptional customer service skills/li/ululliComputer skills needed for the job/liliClass A CDL License/liliHigh School Education or GED, College level coursework preferred/li/ulh3Decision Making Accountability/h3p(List routine decisions the incumbent should make autonomously)/pulliAuthority to make customer service related decisions as needed to satisfy customer requirements within reasonable boundaries./lilihiring, disciplinary decisions/li/ulp(List decisions that the incumbent should seek approval prior to making)/pulliTermination decisions/liliMajor exceptions to current policy regarding servicing customers/li/ulh3Required Licenses/Certifications/h3ulliMust have valid drivers license - Class A/liliMust have CDL Certification for certain driving positions/liliMust have acceptable driving record./li/ulh3Physical Requirements/Work Environment/h3pThe Fleet Manager will need to be flexible as they may be called upon to fill in on routes when drivers are absent, or the workload is heavy./p/div
