HonorVet Technologies is seeking a travel nurse RN PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care for a travel nursing job in Baltimore, Maryland.

Shift: Nights – 3x12 Hours (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Schedule: 3 weekend shifts per schedule period

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse provides critical care nursing to pediatric, infant, and adolescent patients with life-threatening or high-acuity conditions. This role involves managing complex cases such as respiratory failure, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), sepsis, seizures, and post-operative recovery.

Nurses will work within a multidisciplinary team, providing advanced monitoring, administering drips, managing ventilator and respiratory support, and maintaining central and arterial lines. Candidates must demonstrate expertise in pediatric critical care and be comfortable managing a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio.

RNs may be required to float to Pediatrics and Pediatric ED as needed.

• Licensure: Active MD RN License or Compact License – Required at submission
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent PICU experience – Required
• Patient Ratio Experience: Comfortable with 1:2 ratios
• Travel Experience: Accepted (First-time travelers welcome)
• Teaching Hospital Experience: Preferred

• BLS (AHA) – Required
• PALS (AHA) – Required

• Cerner – Required

Pediatric Critical Care

• Management of ventilated pediatric patients
• Respiratory failure and distress management
• DKA, sepsis, and seizure management
• Central and arterial line management
• CVP monitoring and hemodynamic assessment
• Moderate sedation administration and monitoring
• Pediatric pain management and comfort care

Technical Proficiencies

• Drip and infusion management
• Arterial line placement and monitoring
• Tracheostomy and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) management
• Non-invasive ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP)
• Pediatric airway management

Collaborative & Supportive Care

• Multidisciplinary team collaboration
• Family-centered communication and education
• Adherence to safety, isolation, and infection control standards

• IV therapy and phlebotomy
• Central venous pressure (CVP) monitoring
• Pediatric pain and sedation management
• Proficiency in high-stress, fast-paced critical environments

Unit: PICU (1000-7270)
Unit Beds: 6
Patient Age Groups: Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents
Patient Ratios: 1:2 (Days, Nights, Weekends)
Float Required: Yes – Float to Pediatrics and Pediatric ED if needed
Interdisciplinary Support: Respiratory Therapy, Physical Therapy, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy, Transportation, Interpretation Services, Unit Secretary

• Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 3x12 Hours
• Weekend Coverage: 3 shifts per schedule period
• Float Requirement: Yes – Peds and Peds ED
• Block Scheduling: Not guaranteed
