Job Description

SUMMARY

Arcticom, a company within the BSNC family, is currently seeking a qualified Front-End Web Developer in Suitland, MD. This front-end developer position involves developing and maintaining web applications using JavaScript-based frameworks, particularly Angular.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Developing and maintaining web applications using JavaScript-based frameworks, particularly Angular (including Angular Material UI).
  • While primarily a front-end role, some experience with server-side frameworks, particularly Java and JSP, is preferred as you'll occasionally overlap and back up our Senior Java Developer.
  • Designing applications and refactoring code for optimal design, performance, modularization, and to eliminate redundancies.
  • Commitment to code security and integrity, utilizing tools like GitHub code scanning and CodeQL to identify and remediate vulnerabilities.

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree is required
  • 3-5 years of experience in Front-End Web Development
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
  • Strong experience developing and maintaining web applications using JavaScript-based frameworks, particularly Angular (including Angular Material UI). Familiarity with other frameworks, such as React and Vue, is a plus.
  • Experience with Docker (or similar) for local development, testing, and deployment to various application environments.
  • Experience developing and maintaining applications in cloud environments, whether on Virtual Machines (VMs) or in containerized clusters.
  • Experience with DevOps best practices, including:
    • Writing and maintaining code using GitHub, including familiarity with branching strategies (e.g., GitFlow), release management, rebasing, and maintaining clean commit history.
    • Working with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or GitHub Actions) to create and maintain automated build and deployment processes
  • Solid understanding of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, jQuery, and Bootstrap.
  • Experience with service-oriented architecture and microservices, especially working with RESTful API services. You'll architect applications and refactor code for optimal design, performance, modularization, and to eliminate redundancies.
  • Familiarity with Node.js applications and managing packages using npm.
