Get Glowing is currently seeking French Translators who are bilingual in French and English. As a Technical Publications Writer/Translator, you will use your proficiency in both languages to translate hardcopy manuals and online reference materials.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
• Keeps all appointments and assignments and reports to assigned site promptly.
• Assists in the translation and interpretation of school-home meetings.
• Maintains and keeps all conferences confidential.
• Ensures Get Glow documents are completed accurately and legibly by translating information appropriately.
• Attend meetings, conferences or events if needed to support our department.
• Reads or listens to material in original language, determines the understanding of the meaning and context of that material, and converts it into a second language, making sure to preserve the original meaning.
• Proofread translations.
• Complete translation requests from different programs in the IDOH agency. Requests include brochures, flyers, program literature, articles, authorizations forms, consent forms, legal documents, provider and client letters, and direct requests from the State Health Commissioner’s office.
• Relay concepts and ideas between languages.
• Use special dictionaries, glossaries, and websites for reference. Research as necessary to understand all terminology.
• Use appropriate software for delivery and presentation.
• Consult with experts in specialized areas.
• Assist the front desk with interpretation requests for visitors.
• Attend community events to provide interpretation services as well as necessary document translation and sight translations.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Proficiency in linguistics with a strong ability to interpret spoken language accurately.
• Multilingual capabilities are a significant advantage; candidates who are bilingual will be prioritized.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, to convey messages effectively.
• Strong listening skills to ensure accurate interpretation of the speaker's intent.
• Ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy and clarity in interpretation tasks.
