Job Title

The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical expertise to maintain and certify Radar, Airfield and Weather Systems (RAWS).

Responsibilities include:

• Certifying assigned systems and sub-systems to ensure compliance with USAF and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) established standards and safety requirements.
• Determining when equipment malfunctions warrant shutdown of various systems.
• Providing technical guidance, training, and assistance to other technicians and conducting on-the-job (OJT) training to apprentices in all phases of work.
• Utilizing safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

Requirements include:

• Meeting the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Technical and Medical Support Positions.
• Having at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-10, or equivalent in other pay systems.
• Demonstrating knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
• Skill and knowledge of a wide range of electronic principles and practices.
• Knowledge of safety regulations, procedures, and practices.
• Skill in the interpretation of technical data such as drawings, schematics, blueprints, and specifications of complete electronic systems.
• Ability to modify standard procedures, adapt equipment or techniques, and make departures from previous approaches to solve technical problems or improve system performance for highly complex electronic systems.
• Ability to use computer terminals to enter and extract data to maintain records and document actions.

Part-time or unpaid experience, including volunteer work, will be credited for appropriate work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
