Director of Operations - Advintage Distributing

Join our amazing team as the  Director of Operations at Advintage Distributing!  In this key leadership role, you'll lead all aspects of warehouse, logistics, and distribution operations across our wine, beer, and spirits portfolio. This role is critical to ensuring seamless product flow, regulatory and safety compliance, and operational excellence across multiple facilities and markets. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in beverage distribution, a passion for process improvement, and a collaborative leadership style that aligns with our company culture.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Oversight

  • Lead day-to-day operations across multiple distribution centers, including inventory management, order fulfillment, delivery logistics, and returns.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of products to customers while maintaining high service levels and cost efficiency.
  • Oversee fleet operations, including route optimization, vehicle maintenance, and driver compliance. Ensure appropriate numbers and types of vehicles and manage long-term lease plans and negotiations
  • Track Perfect Order components to ensure the company meets the required KPIs for the most efficient operations possible.

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute operational strategies that support business growth, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Partner with executive leadership to align operations with company goals and market expansion plans.
  • Lead capital planning and investment in infrastructure, equipment, and technology. Ensure that budget goals are met at each location.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing alcohol distribution.
  • Maintain and enforce safety protocols and DOT compliance across all facilities and delivery operations, and among all staff. 
  • Develop and recommend safety policies, best practices, and relevant equipment.
  • Enforce all safety regulatory requirements, maintain necessary documentation and records, and confirm that all operations follow safe practices and procedures.
  • Lead internal audits and risk mitigation efforts.

Team Development

  • Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing team of operations managers, supervisors, and frontline staff.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.
  • Collaborate with HR on workforce planning, performance management, and training programs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Sales, Finance, HR, and IT to ensure operational alignment and support.
  • Serve as a key liaison with suppliers, vendors, and third-party logistics providers.

Technology & Process Improvement

  • Leverage technology and systems to drive efficiency, accuracy, and visibility across operations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Utilize, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), using data to drive decision-making and performance improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field strongly preferred.
  • 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in beverage distribution or logistics.
  • Deep understanding of the three-tier alcohol distribution system and regulatory environment.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-site operations and cross-functional teams, with accountability and consistency.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in warehouse management systems; Lean/Six Sigma certification is a plus.
  • Ability to travel regionally as needed, up to 50%.
