Job Summary

We are currently looking for an Electrical Engineer who is self-motivated and eager to contribute to the future success of Stratus. The ideal candidate will become an integral part of our team!

Stratus is a consulting engineering and design company that specializes in Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Information Technology Systems. We work on a variety of projects, including K-12 educational facilities, higher education buildings, healthcare facilities, commercial buildings, animal care facilities, retirement communities, and local government projects.

Primary Essential Functions

• Create technical drawings of Electrical/Fire Alarm designs
• Perform electrical calculations, complete panel schedules, and NEC demand summaries
• Site lighting, photometric, and electrical plans
• Designs will result in producing 100% complete documents
• Make corrections based on red-lined drawings
• Submittal reviews
• Collaborate with design teams on projects
• Ability to communicate well with clients and senior staff
• Analyze and interpret design verification data
• Will be able to meet project budgets, schedules, and performance criteria in a fast-paced environment
• Assist with coordinating design verification activities, including assigning roles and responsibilities in the verification process
• As needed, work with established outside vendor(s) regarding product oversight, timelines, and quality control

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited university
• 1-3 years of experience in engineering design and project management with a consulting engineering or A/E firm, specialization in electrical engineering
• EIT Certification is highly preferred
• Proficient in AutoCAD
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Communicate with internal and external customers
• Good knowledge of building codes and the National Electrical Code
• Ability to work in our Richmond, VA office (3 days in office, 2 days from home)
