Clinical Technology Solution Architect (CTSA)

The Clinical Technology Solution Architect (CTSA) will directly support client delivery with a focus on demonstrating value and impact delivered. CTSA is responsible for designing and implementing healthcare technology solutions that enhance clinical workflows, improve patient outcomes, and streamline operations. This person bridges the gap between IT systems and clinical needs, ensuring interoperability, compliance with regulations, and secure integration of technologies like EHRs, telemedicine platforms, and data analytics tools. CTSA will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of integrated health IT systems across clinical, administrative, and analytics domains. This role is pivotal in ensuring interoperability, regulatory compliance (e.g., HIPAA, ONC), and seamless integration of platforms such as EHRs, telehealth, and data exchange systems.

You will collaborate with clinicians, IT teams, and external partners to architect scalable, secure, and standardsbased solutions that align with Ederas mission and client goals.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be resultsdriven, work well under defined deadlines, and produce strong work products using innovative thinking and a cando attitude. Our Clinical Technology Solution Architect will contribute and support a collaborative team in our pursuit for yet another Edera 5star client delivery. While not required but rather highly desired, our CTSA will leverage their prior practical experience in military field healthcare environments and HIT system transitions, large scale implementations, or modernizations.

The CTSA will have or be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC), have Operational Medicine/IT Expertise: Strong technical knowledge of operational medicine IT systems (ALTHAT, MSAT, HCD, TC2, OMDS etc.) within any branch of the armed forces.

Employment Details

Type of Employment: Fulltime role with opportunity for other employment status options.

Work Location/Travel: Applicants are required to work two or three times a week at Ederas DC office, or at client sites in the DC area. Low to moderate percentage of travel required. Applicants should be free from travel restrictions.

Salary: Highly competitive salary/pay, potential for bonus and/or incentives. The pay range for this position is highly competitive but dependent upon employment type (1099, contract, W2).

Responsibilities

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborating with clinical teams, IT professionals, and project managers to gather requirements, discuss progress, and align solutions with user needs and project goals; facilitating technical interviews and working sessions with client teams.
  • Solution Design & Development: Identifying process and requirement gaps in architecting and refining technical solutions, ensuring that systems are scalable, interoperable, and meet compliance standards. This includes reviewing and adjusting designs to address any emerging technical challenges, determining system integration needs, ensuring seamless interoperability between clinical systems. Understanding system capabilities, analyzing the business and clinical categorization of functionalities. Developing and writing business process requirements and mapping workflows.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Creating and updating technical documentation, architectural blueprints, analysis summaries, project reports, and deliverables, keeping stakeholders informed of milestones and any issues that may arise.
  • Troubleshooting & ProblemSolving: Assessing functional and technical information gaps, identifying and understanding any immediate technical issues, system performance challenges, and providing guidance to the team on solution optimization for translation into new requirements.
  • Collaboration with Vendors: Working with external vendors to gather project information necessary to identify gaps, assess impact, make recommendations, and write new requirements.
  • Interface Control Document (ICD) Analysis and Development: Reviewing and assessing existing ICDs and evaluating data mapping between systems. Writing new ICDs. Analyzing capabilities of different products and integration strategies to meet the requirements.

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Healthcare IT Expertise: Strong knowledge of clinical systems like EHRs (e.g., Cerner, ViSTA), DoD MHS GENESIS and Operational Medicine, telemedicine, and healthcare IT infrastructure.
  • Clinical Workflow Understanding: Experience optimizing clinical processes and aligning technology with healthcare operations.
  • Technical Architecture: Proficiency in system design, integration, interoperability standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR), and cloud technologies.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with healthcare compliance (e.g., HIPAA) and security protocols.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for working with clinicians, IT teams, and stakeholders.
  • Project Management: Experience overseeing complex projects, managing timelines, and ensuring successful implementation of healthcare technology solutions.

Experience Required

  • A minimum of 6 years in the health information technology field.
  • 2 or more largescale, successful health information technology implementations or modernization.
  • Experience with healthcare data standards (FHIR, HL7, DICOM), and an understanding of FHIR API and application design is preferred.
  • Custom product experience across multiple DOD products.

Technical Skills Required

  • Strong proficiency with MS Office 365 skills to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards (FHIR, HL7, DICOM); an understanding of FHIR API and app design, familiarity with digital quality measurement, experience with usecases involving EHR data in downstream/valueadd applications; and a good understanding of the challenges and limitations of using realworld clinical data in quality measurement.

Education/Certification Required

Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Masters degree preferred, but not required.
