Summary: As the Bookkeeper, you will play a vital role in ensuring the financial health and integrity of our organization. Your meticulous attention to detail will keep our financial systems accurate and transparent—empowering every department to make informed, mission-driven decisions. From recording daily transactions and reconciling accounts to supporting month-end reporting and budget analysis, you’ll be at the center of our financial stewardship. Beyond numbers, you’ll collaborate across teams, safeguard resources, and contribute to the systems that sustain our community impact. FLSA Classification: Non-exempt; hourly

Pay: $24.00 per hour plus competitive benefits.

Spanish Bilingual differential: $0.75 per hour (as eligible)

Position Type: Full-time; 40 hours per work week

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri; 8:00a-4:30p with the ability to flex hours to accommodate business needs.

Remote Eligibility: This position is primarily onsite, with occasional opportunities to work from home in accordance with FBLC’s work from home policy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

BOOKKEEPING (85%)

  • Maintain accurate daily transaction records and reconcile bank accounts.
  • Prepare journal entries, donation records, and account reconciliations.
  • Support month-end closing, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure budget data accuracy and provide insights to support financial stewardship.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure financial compliance and integrity.
  • Collaborate with departments on reclasses, reporting, and financial inquiries.
  • Implement and maintain financial systems and tools, ensuring data security and confidentiality.
  • Serve as a functional backup for payroll operations.

ADMINISTRATIVE (10%)

  • Manage filing, organization, and electronic document retention.

GENERAL (5%)

  • Maintain adherence to FBLC safety, OSHA, and food safety standards, prioritizing safety for oneself and others, including when operating company equipment or vehicles.
  • When representing the organization in local, state, and regional collaborations, take care to embody organizational values.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to various viewpoints, including those shaped by different generations and cultures, while delivering exceptional customer service through kindness and engagement in all stakeholder interactions.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS

COMPETENCIES:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate degree in accounting or related field, or equivalent of successful work experience.
  • Experience preferred in nonprofit accounting, including familiarity with restricted funds, grant accounting, compliance, and reporting (e.g., OMB Circular A133 single audit).

PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENING REQUIREMENTS: Successful completion of all pre-screening requirements.

LANGUAGE SKILLS & ABILITY: Proficiency in English required, bilingual in Spanish highly preferred.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Prefer experience with Inventory and Project Management systems, especially Microsoft Navision Ceres.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and online technologies is essential.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no direct reports but may support the coordination of volunteers.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Primarily works in an office located within a warehouse.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

TRAVEL: Local travel between the 3 organizational sites is the primary expectation during business hours. Mileage reimbursement is provided for work-related travel.
